BALTIMORE, May 17, 2023 — Baltimore Jazz Alliance announces the return of their popular Father’s Day and Juneteenth event, Baltimore Jazz Fest, this year in a new format as part of Baltimore’s AFRAM, one of the largest African American festivals on the east coast. On Sunday, June 18th, Jazz Fest will come to life on AFRAM’s Soul Stage to bring some of the region’s best jazz artists to festival-goers in Druid Hill Park. Highlights of this free event include the Girls Night Out big band, the Terry Koger Quintet, Samuel Prather, saxophonists Tim Green, Brad Collins, Brent Birckhead, Lionel Lyles, Jr., and a special vocal competition featuring The Session house band led by Clarence Ward, III. In addition to our partners at AFRAM, BJA is grateful to our sponsors at the Maryland State Arts Council, the Baltimore Community Foundation, the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund, the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, Wegman’s, and more.

We are looking forward to celebrating our 20th year of promoting and supporting jazz in the Baltimore region with AFRAM.
“BJA showcasing the past, present and future of Baltimore Jazz with Jazz Fest at AFRAM, celebrating the Father’s Day and Juneteenth Holidays, is an affirmation of the true heart and soul of Baltimore. I look forward to continuing this alliance in the future.” – Tyrone Crawley, president of the Baltimore Jazz Alliance
As always, our lineup will highlight some of the best instrumental and vocal artists of the area in a variety of jazz styles, and as part of AFRAM, will offer attendees to experience the full variety of African American music throughout the day.
